“British IPTV” gets searched as often as “IPTV UK”, and it usually means one of two things: British channels in a British home without an aerial, or British channels for people living abroad. They are different situations.

Which British channels do people want most?

The five public service channels (ITV1, BBC One, Channel 4, BBC Two and Channel 5) come first, then the sport (UK Sports, TNT Sports), then the UKTV and Channel 4 families (Dave, Gold, E4, More4, Film4), news (BBC News, Sky News, GB News) and the children’s channels (CBBC, CBeebies).

Why do regional channels matter?

BBC One and ITV1 split into regions for local news and some programmes. Someone in Leeds expects Look North and ITV News Calendar; someone in Plymouth expects Spotlight and ITV News West Country. Many IPTV services carry only the London versions. Ask before you buy, and use our postcode checker to see your own pair.

How do you get British channels at home with no aerial?

Legally and for free:

  • Freely, run by Everyone TV (the people behind Freeview) and backed by the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5, streams more than 70 live channels over broadband. It is built into new TVs from Hisense, Toshiba, Panasonic, Sharp, TCL and others.
  • BBC iPlayer, ITVX, Channel 4 and My5 apps stream their channels live and on demand.

You still need a TV licence for live TV and iPlayer. A paid IPTV service adds the pay channels, the sport and the film library on top.

What changes when you are abroad?

Almost everything. iPlayer and ITVX block connections from outside the UK, and UK broadcasters sell their programmes to a different company in each country. Services selling a full British line-up to expats in Spain, Portugal, Cyprus or Dubai rarely have the rights, and they are a regular target: the Chorley operation that ended with a 6.5-year sentence in August 2026 sold mainly to British expats.

What does IPTV UK offer?

We sell to UK homes. Our line-up and the channel list are described for viewers here, and we answer questions about specific channels in writing before you buy.

Readers also ask

Why does BBC One show different news in different places?
BBC One has regional versions, such as BBC London, Look North and Midlands Today, and ITV1 has regions such as Granada and Central. Over IPTV you usually get one version unless the service carries the regions. Our postcode checker tells you which ones are yours.
Can I watch BBC iPlayer abroad?
No. iPlayer checks where you are connecting from and only plays in the UK. Using a VPN to get around this breaks iPlayer's terms of use, even though a TV licence is paid at home.
Is it legal to watch British IPTV in Spain or Portugal?
UK broadcasters sell their channels country by country, so a service carrying them in Spain normally has no licence to do so. The Chorley seller jailed in August 2026 targeted British expats in particular.
